Google Search ads can now show AI-written, positive-only review summaries you can't edit
What changed
A new Google Ads Help page, "About Review summaries", says Google AI gathers online reviews of your business from across the web and adds a short, positive-only summary to your Search ads. It runs in Search campaigns, in all positions on Google.com, on all devices, in English in the US, UK, Australia and India, for all verticals except sensitive ones such as pharmaceuticals. Advertisers can't edit or customize the text, and Google shows it only when it predicts better ad performance. The page doesn't say how to opt out, which review sources are used, or whether reporting will show it.
What to do
Search your brand on Google to see what your ads say now, and check that public reviews (Google, Trustpilot, marketplaces) are current and accurate, since that is what the summary is built from. If you are in a regulated category or worry about claims, ask your Google rep how to turn it off and watch the account-level automated assets settings.
