What to do: If you sell alcohol or non-alcoholic alternatives, check whether your YouTube and Demand Gen campaigns were held back from audience signals (customer lists, custom segments, remarketing) and test adding them now. Keep age targeting and local rules in place, and don't build segments around drinking-related health topics.
What to do: Before Black Friday, check Ads Manager for Promotional Formats on your Web Traffic ads and load your real BFCM offers, so the discount shows on the button instead of being baked into the video. If you use Smart+, set Creative Selection to review new recommendations before they go live, so AI-made or creator assets don't run unseen. If you run Search Ads, add Impression Share and Top 1 Impression Share as columns to find keywords where more budget would buy more volume. TikTok Shop sellers should ask their rep about GMV Max Pro and Growth Autopilot access.
What to do: If you send on WhatsApp, add a conditional split on channel affinity to one high-value flow (abandoned cart or win-back) so WhatsApp-first profiles get the WhatsApp message and others get email or SMS. Expect brand-new WhatsApp subscribers to show WhatsApp as first preference at first, whatever their history.
What to do: Add Creative diversity to your saved column preset next to frequency and cost per result. For ad sets rated Low, add materially different images or videos (new format, person, setting or product shot, not a color or text tweak) while keeping the ads that work. Don't chase a High rating for its own sake: judge changes on cost per result and your own sales data, since Meta calls the metric in development.
What to do: Before Black Friday, open the products bulk editor and review the GTIN suggestions, then accept the ones that are your real GS1 codes so Google and other channels get correct product identifiers. Look closely at any barcode where GS1's vendor or product name doesn't match yours; it may be a supplier's code or a typo.
What to do: Use it for a quick conversion audit before Black Friday: add the Action optimization column, save the column set, and look for duplicate purchase actions, mismatched click windows (7 vs. 30 vs. 90 days) and secondary actions that should be primary, or the other way round.
What to do: If you sell in any of the 10 new countries, expect new AI Mode impressions from your existing Search, Shopping, PMax and AI Max campaigns. Check search terms and placement reporting for longer, conversational queries over the next few weeks, and tighten negatives if they look off. In the US, follow-up-question ads mean more matching on conversation context, so the same check applies. Keep Merchant Center titles and descriptions complete, since product listings are what shows in AI Mode.
What to do: If you have retail stores, pop-ups or stockists, turn on Shopify Markets sync in Klaviyo, import one to three locations from Shopify POS and check the proximity segments and in-store revenue before using them for local launch or event campaigns. Check templates and flows before renaming the shared location property.
What to do: Nothing to switch on. The practical read: Meta says it now considers all of your eligible ads and creative variations, and can place new ads by what they show, so clear product imagery and on-ad copy matter for matching. Keep judging new creative on results, and use your own holdout or incrementality tests rather than Meta's lift figures.
What to do: Mostly for small brands without a media buyer. If you already run Meta or Microsoft ads yourself, don't connect the same accounts to Autopilot, or two systems will move budget against each other. If you test it, start with a capped budget and compare it with your own campaigns on a holdout or a clear time window.
What to do: If you run Google Shopping/PMax or Meta catalog ads from Shopify's channels, open channel mapping and check coverage for title, category and color. Add the brand to titles where it helps, and fill the gaps the coverage numbers show. Change one channel at a time and watch feed diagnostics in Merchant Center or Commerce Manager after each change.
What to do: If you already send abandonment flows from Klaviyo or another tool, don't switch on Shopify's WhatsApp versions as well, or customers who opted in to both get duplicate nudges. If WhatsApp is new for you, test the abandoned checkout template on a small segment first, and check per-message pricing against the recovered revenue.
What to do: Use these to generate test ideas, not as proof. Run SimGym's add-to-cart confidence test on the product pages your ads send traffic to, then confirm any change Sidekick or SimGym suggests with a real A/B test or a before/after read on live conversion rate before you roll it out.
What to do: If a monthly report, sheet or Power Query reads Klaviyo exports, compare the new column list with what you pull today before switching. Keep using the legacy export until your report works with the new file.
What to do: If you load several images or videos into one ad, open Breakdown > Creative > Media on your top ads and find the assets that take most of the spend, then cut or replace the ones that don't convert. Treat it as a guide for your next round of creative, not a clean split test, because Meta decides which asset each person sees.
What to do: If you run Shop Campaigns, check whether external platforms are switched on and whether you're happy paying your commission on sales that start in third-party apps and AI shopping agents. Watch Shop Campaigns results by source over the next few weeks.
What to do: Before BFCM creative goes live, open Admin > Policy > Summary, sort by conversions, and fix disapproved or limited ads on your top campaigns first.
What to do: If you want to test AI Max, build the experiment yourself in the Experiments tab so you can exclude brand or sensitive ad groups, rather than accepting the 1-click recommendation. Don't start a new test in the two weeks before Black Friday unless you can live with the learning period.
What to do: Open Sales channels > Agentic > Knowledge base, review the drafted facts (shipping, returns, sizing, guarantees, offers) and publish the accurate ones, since this is what agents like ChatGPT and Muse will repeat. If you used the old app with 1,000+ facts, move the ones you need before Jan 15, 2027.
What to do: Before turning it on for Q4, decide how much ROAS you can give up and write the effective target down (target minus tolerance). Only use it on campaigns that aren't capped by budget, keep Shopping and PMax on campaign-level tROAS, and judge it over 1 to 2 conversion cycles against total sales, not just ROAS.
What to do: Search your brand on Google to see what your ads say now, and check that public reviews (Google, Trustpilot, marketplaces) are current and accurate, since that is what the summary is built from. If you are in a regulated category or worry about claims, ask your Google rep how to turn it off and watch the account-level automated assets settings.
What to do: If you're testing a new language market, use it to draft the campaign, then check the back-translations, set the budget and bids in the new currency yourself, and test the landing-page snippet before you enable anything.
What to do: Build your Black Friday catalogs now and schedule them in one rollout with the matching theme changes, so prices, products and the storefront flip together. If you're unsure about a price point, test two catalogs before peak.
What to do: If you use a flat new-customer value and sell both cheap and expensive items, test a multiplier on one campaign first. A multiplier raises reported conversion value and ROAS, so revisit any Target ROAS on that campaign and compare against the Original conversion value column. Keep your customer lists (at least 1,000 active members) fresh so Google can tell new from returning buyers. Look at the retention modes for win-back and loyalty pushes before BFCM.
What to do: In each PMax campaign, open Asset group, then Asset optimization, and check whether Sourced videos is ticked. Click Manage sources and only approve URLs whose videos you have the rights to use in ads (watch for licensed music, creator UGC and old offers). Untick it if you want full control. Check the Assets report for crawled videos already serving.
What to do: Does this affect you? 1) Did you get an attribution pop-up in Ads Manager? 2) Check the attribution setting in the Ads Manager UI itself, not through the API or a third-party tool. 3) In breakdowns, compare conversion rate on iOS vs Android since October 5. If only iOS fell, that points to measurement, not demand. 4) Open your newest ads and check the Advantage+ creative and Related Media toggles and that the CTA button is still there. 5) Check placement breakdowns for sudden spend spikes, especially Instagram Stories. 6) If your numbers come from a third-party dashboard (Funnel, Triple Whale and the like), check them against Ads Manager before you act, because of the Insights API issue.
What to do: Don't wait for the terms: Advantage+ enhancements can already change live ads, whatever happens to the new wording. Before Black Friday creative goes live, open each active ad's Advantage+ creative enhancements and turn off the ones you don't want (check the collapsed sections too). Re-check after any account update notice. Spot-check what actually served using ad previews. If you are an agency, agree in writing with clients who approves AI-made changes, and watch for a new effective date once Meta's consultation ends.
What to do: If you turned Dynamic images off because of stock photos, licensed or UGC imagery, or regulated claims, the account switch will no longer protect new PMax campaigns. From Dec 4, set image extraction to Off on each new Performance Max campaign you create. If you use a script or tool to build campaigns, have it send GENERATE_IMAGE_EXTRACTION = OPTED_OUT. When you update an existing campaign through the API, resend the whole asset_automation_settings list, because a partial update wipes the other settings (for example text automation). Check that your landing-page images are licensed for ads.
What to do: Stop holding budget increases for Q4 out of fear of resetting learning: Google says budget changes take effect in the next auction without triggering it. Still avoid several target changes inside one conversion cycle, and wait 2 conversion cycles or 2 weeks before judging a change.
What to do: Run the formula on your account: at a $40 cost per purchase, a $20,000 weekly budget feeds about 10 ad sets. If you're over that, consolidate before Black Friday, batch any setting changes into one edit, and leave your biggest campaign alone through peak with a lift or A/B test running.
What to do: If you send WhatsApp marketing to customers outside the US, ask your messaging platform (Klaviyo, Shopify Messaging, or your WhatsApp provider) whether it already sends marketing templates through the Marketing Messages API and when it will finish moving. If you run your own integration, plan the switch before April 2027 if you'll create new WhatsApp accounts, and before Oct 13, 2027 at the latest.
What to do: If your team already lives in Gemini, connect Google Ads read-only first and compare its answers with the Ads UI before you let it near anything else. Check the Shopify access scopes before you approve the connector.
What to do: Click through every link on your store that leaves it, such as a subscription portal, quiz, wholesale or partner site, booking page or a second brand domain. If the warning appears on a step in your funnel, connect that domain to your store where you can, or move the step, so shoppers don't drop off at the extra screen.
What to do: If you split ad sets only to send different creatives to men and women, or to younger and older buyers, test one broad ad set with per-creative audiences against your current setup. Advantage+ audience has to be off, so run it as a test, not a switch. If you use a buying tool or your own scripts, check they can read and write the new targeting_automation.creative_audience_pairing flag and the creative_audience_pairing_persona field without breaking.
What to do: List every Customer Match and offline-conversion upload that goes through Data Manager (CRM connectors, scheduled file imports, the API). Before Nov 16, check with Google support or your rep whether your pre-hashed files keep working, then compare match rates before and after the switch. Have privacy or legal sign off on unhashed data being sent to Google's secure environment.
What to do: Before Nov 12, decide on purpose: check the toggle in Events Manager > Data sources > your Pixel > Settings and turn it off if you don't want it. Either way, save a baseline now (daily Meta-attributed purchases vs. Shopify paid orders for the last 30 days), keep CAPI running, and annotate Nov 12 in your reports so a jump in Meta ROAS isn't read as a performance win.
What to do: Nothing to switch on. If you run Search, PMax or AI Max on broad match, expect some AI Mode impressions to be matched on personal context rather than the query alone, so watch search terms and AI Mode reporting for unexpected matches.
What to do: If an app or script creates Klaviyo campaigns through the API, have its owner test against 2026-10-15 before upgrading the revision header.
What to do: For launches or BFCM, ask your Meta rep about Super Burst availability and pricing in Reach Planner. For video, keep an eye out for Aggregated View Time in reporting; Meta hasn't given a date beyond the alpha.
What to do: Nothing changes yet: Meta's existing terms stay in place and there is no new date. Don't plan around Nov 20 any more, but watch for Meta's consultation outcome and a new effective date, and when one appears, have legal read the final Commercial Terms and Self-Serve Ad Terms. You can review your robots.txt rules for Meta's crawlers (Meta-ExternalAgent, Meta-WebIndexer) now, and decide which pages, such as gated, wholesale or member content, you are comfortable having crawled.
What to do: Decide before Oct 28 whether you want this on. If not, opt out, or switch it off per ad, and watch site sessions vs. Meta-reported conversions after the switch.
What to do: Find Search campaigns with Display Network on. To keep today's behavior after Feb 2027, Google says to set Display to Low priority with a 50% budget allocation.
What to do: If you sell lingerie, swimwear, sexual wellness or other products where creative can read as suggestive, check your Google ads and landing pages against the new examples. Fix anything that could get restricted before peak season, since limited ads lose YouTube and Display reach.
What to do: Before you rely on it, ask it for a number you already trust, like repeat-purchase rate or last month's flow revenue, and check that its revenue definition (gross or net, refunds in or out) matches your reporting.
What to do: On acquisition campaigns, compare the automatic exclusion window with your own customer lists, and pick the window that matches your repurchase cycle.
What to do: If any Search or Performance Max campaign uses location assets, check what offers your landing pages show: expired sales, member-only or newsletter codes, old prices. Either add your own promotion asset (campaigns with a manual promotion are skipped) or turn it off: Assets > More > Account level automated assets > More > Advanced settings > Automated promotions: Off. To see what Google added, filter Assets by Promotion and look for "Google AI" in the Added by column. Repeat in every account you manage.
What to do: Don't click through the banner on a live container. Export the current version, run the optimization in a fresh workspace, then check in Preview mode that each Google destination fires once per page, that consent behavior is unchanged, and that conversions still record. Review who gets Read access before you publish. Separately, check for custom event triggers with wildcard or regex matches that could now fire on gtag.config events.
What to do: List the Sales and Leads ad sets that depend on manual exclusions such as Audience Network or right column, and save their placement breakdowns now. Then set account-level exclusions by objective (Advertising settings > Account controls) for placements you can never run on, and use placement value rules to down-weight weak placements. Remember that account-level exclusions apply to every campaign in the account. Jon Loomer's Oct 27 read of Meta's guidance: to all but switch off Audience Network, add a placement value rule that lowers its bid by 50% to 90%.
What to do: If any client or brand runs ads in the social issues, elections or politics category (including advocacy and cause ads), get them approved and serving at least one impression before Oct 27, 12:01am PT (3:01am ET), with final creative and targeting, because you can't edit them after that. If your regular ads touch on topics Meta treats as social issues, watch for them being flagged and held in review this week.
What to do: Check whether your US campaigns use automatic placements, which may now include TTAN, and review placement-level results and brand safety reports.
What to do: If you run an affiliate program, ask your platform whether it supports the Content Suite API to turn proven creator posts into Spark Ads faster.
What to do: Open the AI performance insights in Merchant Center, and enrich product feeds with the conversational details Google recommends before BFCM.
What to do: Check whether your organic link posts are hitting the new limits before paying, and look at which tier, if any, adds features you'd actually use.
What to do: If you build in-house Google Ads tooling, confirm your Cloud project shows the right access level, and update owner and editor contacts to receive service announcements.
What to do: Check whether it's on in Events Manager. Review any events it created so auto-detected events don't double count your purchase or lead tracking.
What to do: Ask every app that adds code to your storefront whether it uses script tags, and get migration dates. Test tracking pixels on a duplicate theme well before March.
What to do: List budget-limited Target CPA and Target ROAS campaigns and compare actual CPA or ROAS with the target for the weeks before Aug 17. Set each target to what you'd actually accept. Google says matching recent averages keeps current performance. Or switch to Maximize conversions or Maximize conversion value. Compare lost impression share (budget) with lost impression share (rank) before and after Aug 17 before blaming the drop on this. Give each change 1 to 2 conversion cycles.
What to do: If a planning dashboard or forecasting tool draws expected-results curves, ask its owner whether it reads these fields and what it will show after Oct 27.
What to do: Remove "story" from messenger_positions in any manual-placement ad sets, templates and bulk or agency scripts. Advantage+ Placements need no action. After Oct 27, compare delivery by placement with the week before.
What to do: If you force web destinations inside Website and App campaigns, switch to automatic destination selection or a compatible manual destination before Oct 27.
What to do: Check Advantage+ Creative settings on ads where on-image claims are regulated or brand-sensitive, and turn text generation off if you need exact copy.
