Google now allows personalized alcohol ads on YouTube where local law permits
What changed
Starting October 30, 2026, Google's personalized advertising policy allows alcohol ads on YouTube inventory to be personalized where alcohol advertising is locally permitted. It covers alcohol, alcohol-related products and alcohol alternative beverages (such as non-alcoholic beer and spirits). It isn't available yet in Egypt, India, Indonesia and Poland. Google still bans targeting health information related to alcohol, keeps age restrictions and doesn't personalize ads for minors. The change is for YouTube inventory only; Google says it will share information on other surfaces later. All alcohol ads stay subject to Google's alcohol policy and local law.
What to do
If you sell alcohol or non-alcoholic alternatives, check whether your YouTube and Demand Gen campaigns were held back from audience signals (customer lists, custom segments, remarketing) and test adding them now. Keep age targeting and local rules in place, and don't build segments around drinking-related health topics.
