Ads in AI Mode expand to 10 more countries, and the US gets ads on follow-up questions

What changed

Google is now scaling ads in AI Mode in Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore, and says Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom are next in Q4 2026. In the US it is launching multiturn ads, which can show on the answers to follow-up questions as people go back and forth with AI Mode (a Google spokesperson's description to Search Engine Roundtable). Ads are labeled "Sponsored". Google says AI Mode queries are on average three times longer than traditional searches, and that click-through rates are already similar for sponsored and organic product listings in AI Mode. It announced no new campaign type or setting.

What to do

If you sell in any of the 10 new countries, expect new AI Mode impressions from your existing Search, Shopping, PMax and AI Max campaigns. Check search terms and placement reporting for longer, conversational queries over the next few weeks, and tighten negatives if they look off. In the US, follow-up-question ads mean more matching on conversation context, so the same check applies. Keep Merchant Center titles and descriptions complete, since product listings are what shows in AI Mode.
