Meta explains its 2026 ads ranking upgrades: Andromeda now scores every eligible ad, and new ads get a faster start
What changed
Meta published an explainer on three systems that apply to every advertiser automatically. Andromeda (retrieval, the first shortlist) now routes ads to specialized "expert" models and, in production, scores every eligible ad at over one billion ads per second; Meta credits it with a 2.4% increase in Facebook conversions since 2025. GEM, its large ads foundation model, now trains the models that rank ads on Facebook, Instagram, Reels and off-Meta conversions, and Meta says campaigns with few conversions benefit from what it learns from other click data. GenRecs uses an LLM to describe each ad's text and images (brand, color, fit, style), which Meta says helps new ads and products with little history perform sooner. All figures are Meta's own; there are no new settings or reports.
What to do
Nothing to switch on. The practical read: Meta says it now considers all of your eligible ads and creative variations, and can place new ads by what they show, so clear product imagery and on-ad copy matter for matching. Keep judging new creative on results, and use your own holdout or incrementality tests rather than Meta's lift figures.
