Google Ads offers a 1-click AI Max experiment, plus ad group-level test controls
What changed
Google's AI Max for Search FAQ now says eligible accounts may see a "Create 1-click experiment automatically" recommendation that sets up a 50/50 split of your base Search campaign against an AI Max treatment with no manual setup. When you build an AI Max experiment yourself in the Experiments tab, you can now turn Search term matching or Asset optimization on or off per ad group in the treatment arm.
What to do
If you want to test AI Max, build the experiment yourself in the Experiments tab so you can exclude brand or sensitive ad groups, rather than accepting the 1-click recommendation. Don't start a new test in the two weeks before Black Friday unless you can live with the learning period.
