Shopify builds Knowledge base into the admin to control the facts AI agents get about your store
What changed
Knowledge base now lives at Sales channels > Agentic > Knowledge base. It is one page where you review, edit and publish the facts AI shopping agents get about your store (contact details, gift services and more). Shopify drafts facts from your published storefront pages, each linked to its source, and nothing it drafts reaches AI agents until you publish it. It replaces the standalone Knowledge Base app, which goes away after January 15, 2027. Stores with fewer than 1,000 facts in the app were moved over and published automatically; stores with more must re-add the facts they want before Jan 15, 2027.
What to do
Open Sales channels > Agentic > Knowledge base, review the drafted facts (shipping, returns, sizing, guarantees, offers) and publish the accurate ones, since this is what agents like ChatGPT and Muse will repeat. If you used the old app with 1,000+ facts, move the ones you need before Jan 15, 2027.
