Meta blocks new US ads about social issues, elections or politics from Oct 27 to Nov 3
What changed
Ahead of the 2026 US midterms, Meta won't let any new ads about social issues, elections or politics run in the US from 12:01am PT on Tuesday, October 27 through 11:59pm PT on Tuesday, November 3. Ads can keep running only if they have a valid disclaimer and delivered at least one impression before 12:01am PT on October 27. During the window you can change only bid, budget and scheduled end date, and pause or unpause. Creative, placement, targeting and optimization edits are blocked. Meta asked advertisers to submit these ads by October 20 so they clear review in time. Ads outside this category aren't affected.
What to do
If any client or brand runs ads in the social issues, elections or politics category (including advocacy and cause ads), get them approved and serving at least one impression before Oct 27, 12:01am PT (3:01am ET), with final creative and targeting, because you can't edit them after that. If your regular ads touch on topics Meta treats as social issues, watch for them being flagged and held in review this week.
